Pulmonary angiography is a benchmark examination in the diagnosis of various pathologies affecting the pulmonary vascular system, in particular:
-Pulmonary embolism (obstruction of one or more pulmonary arteries). Pulmonary angiography complements the performance of a CT angiogram, when the latter alone does not confirm the diagnosis of embolism;
-Stenosis of the pulmonary arteries (narrowing of the wall of the blood vessels);
-A pulmonary artery aneurysm (arterial dilation);
-The presence of pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas (abnormal communications between the venous and arterial networks);
-Congenital cardiac and / or vascular malformations;
-The presence of a foreign body in the blood vessels.
