    Trans-mandibular oral pharyngectomy in Errachidia

    Trans-mandibular oral pharyngectomy is the removal of part of the back of the mouth (oropharyngectomy) by severing or removing part of the lower jaw. It is an operation intended to remove a cancerous tumor located in the amygdala and / or the back of the throat which, without treatment, would inevitably progress to the point of putting your life on the line. The ablation of the tumor requires removing, depending on its size and location: - all or part of the amygdala compartment - a posterior part of the tongue - a part of the internal face of the cheek - part of the veil. The fragment of jaw next to the tumor is sometimes removed permanently or put back in place and fixed as for a fracture. In some cases, cutting or removing the mandible is not necessary. The intervention then takes the name of oropharyngectomy
