The palatine tonsils are formed of a tissue lymphoid located in the throat at the level of the veil of palate, on either side of the uvula. Removal of tonsils is justified in case of recurrent infections (tonsillitis) or if their size interferes with breathing or swallowing, or if they are responsible for infectious complications.
