It is a congenital malformation of the breasts. This congenital malformation causes thoracic abnormalities sometimes associated with abnormalities of the upper limb. The involvement very often affects only one side, right or left. Thoracic abnormalities can be discreet or on the contrary very marked:
- systematic partial or total absence of the pectoralis major muscle;
- breast hypoplasia (abnormally small breast) or even aplasia of the breast (absence of a breast);
- small areola placed too high and too lateral;
- thoracic bone damage;
- absence of the latissimus dorsi muscle.
Abnormalities of the upper limb, when they exist, are also either minimal (short fingers) or really disabling (complex malformations).
